"Adopt a Box" With the increase in postage $9.80 per box, we will soon be forced to either reduce the number of boxes we send each month or get an increase in donations to help with the postage. For just $10.00 per month or $120.00 per year, you can make a tax deductible donation to help with this growing expense. FINALLY....the post office has given us a break. A new larger flat rate box is now available for just $10.95.
Please visit our photo album "Members and Friends" to see some of the groups who are now working with us on a regular basis.

In January 2006 American Legion Auxiliary Unit #113 was struggling along trying to build members and also do something for our veterans and the community.
The Angels of Corsicana had been sending care packages to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since the war started and Jean and Marvin O'Connor (founders) were more than willing to come to Lufkin to share their knowledge and expertise in sending care packages. Since there is no Post Home in Lufkin, the Auxiliary contacted the local Texas National Guard Armory about using their facility to get this started. They were excited about it and got the permissions approved almost immediately.
We planned a "Help Fill an Angel Package" Day at the Armory and invited the public to bring donations. KTRE-TV and Lufkin Daily News was on hand for interviews and photos. We shipped four boxes to four names that were provided by the O'Connors. From that first month, the donations continued to come in and the unit continued to grow.
Since that time we have moved into a room at the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center when we can lock the door and leave things organized on tables ready for the next shipment. As of October 2007 we have over 70 contact names and send between 70 & 80 boxes per month.
The DAVA Chapter 84 heard about what we were doing and wanted to help. They are now donating $200.00 every month to help with postage. Many other organizations have made wonderful donations to help us keep sending packages every month.
